Manufacturing Process
Starting with 304 or 316L stainless steel wire, diameters from 0.03 mm to 1.0 mm are cold-drawn through diamond dies to achieve surface finishes under Ra 0.4 µm. Wires are then crimped using synchronized rollers, imparting a consistent “bite” that locks intersections. Weaving occurs on rapier looms equipped to handle the diameter differential between warp and weft wires. After weaving, mesh is annealed at 450 – 650 °C in a hydrogen atmosphere, then chemically treated to remove embedded iron and passivate the surface.
